Facelift for a Sheffield Landmark
Laminated panel manufacturer Panel Systems has helped to transform Sheffield University’s landmark Owen Building.
Long-established suppliers of laminated panel products, Sheffield-based Panel Systems has recently celebrated the completion of a major, six month contract to manufacture and supply over two and a half thousand PVF2 steel-faced insulated panels for the refurbishment of the Owen Building, part of Sheffield University.
Working alongside main contractor HGB Construction and window contractor Solar Glass, Panel Systems developed the particular performance characteristics of the panel in conjunction with architects Jefferson Sheard, also based in Sheffield. “We had chosen Panel Systems on previous projects,” said Solar Glass’ Rob Newman, “and new that they had expertise in manufacturing this type of stepped panel, and that they had the systems in place to be able to match our delivery commitments to HGB Construction.”
“It’s always pleasing to be able to contribute to a project which has such a strong visual impact – especially in your own back yard,” said Panel Systems MD Chris Ibbotson.
Panel Systems ability to answer the increasing demand for insulated panel products has recently been enhanced with the company’s establishment of the UK’s largest Stryofoam cutting site at Waleswood.
